The Martin Luther King holiday is officially Monday, and here are a couple tribute events to honor Dr. King’s lasting legacy: On Saturday, head to Kissimmee Lakefront Park to celebrate diversity, unity, and community at the City of Kissimmee’s Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Celebration from 12-5 p.m. This energetic festival will feature live performances from Gospel, R&B, and soul artists as well as food trucks, craft vendors, and the KUA Kids Power Zone.
On Monday the 15th, Martin Luther King Day, community members will be gathering at Hopkins Park in St. Cloud (620 E. 17th St.) to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. The MLK Day of Service, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., is a community clean-up event, suitable for all ages.
“This event is a way for our community to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by giving back to the community during this community clean-up,” said Mayor Nathan Blackwell. “We encourage our residents to dress comfortably and join us. We have tasks available for all ages.”
Lunch will be provided to all volunteers.
