TUESDAY: Two men are dead after a shooting early Tuesday at a Kissimmee apartment complex.
The Rapallo apartment complex, on Centerview Boulevard just south of Osceola Parkway and the Crosslands Shopping Center, and across the street from BJ’s Wholesale Club, was wrapped in crime scene tape much of Tuesday morning as police investigated the incident.
Sheriff Marcos Lopez said the Sheriff’s Office got the call after midnight Tuesday regarding multiple gunshots fired at the complex. Responding deputies to a unit on Marta Circle found two males shot, laying in a corridor; one was pronounced dead on scene, the other died after being transported to a local hospital. A third individual, who detectives call a person of interest in the case, was found in the bushes, also with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and remains in police custody. Evidence that the shooting was drug related, as well as multiple weapons, were found on the scene.
“It was basically like a shootout at the O.K. Corral, which is crazy because there’s a lot citizens who live here. Thank God there weren’t that many people out at that hour,” said Lopez, who noted that accounts for all those involved in the shooting, which he said is isolated and involved no threat to the public afterwards.
He said all those involved, identified only as males in their 20s to 30 as family members were still being notified, were known to each other. One of the victims had just moved to the area and the apartment complex.
Lopez said detectives are early in their investigation, so updates will be forthcoming.
