Sheriff's Office awarded U.S. 192 High-Visibility traffic enforcement contract

If you drive U.S. Highway 192 west of Kissimmee, be on the lookout for traffic enforcement operations involving bicyclists and pedestrians.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has been awarded a contract for High Visibility Enforcement from the University of North Florida, the agency reported Saturday.

The contract is in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for a Bicycle Pedestrian High Visibility Enforcement Initiative along U.S. Highway 192.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has identified high incident locations throughout the county for pedestrian and bicycle traffic-related incidents. From October through January, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office will be conducting enforcement operations at the two identified Tier 1 locations on U.S. 192:

  • Seven Dwarfs Lane to Four Winds Boulevard, just east of the Vineland Road Intersection;
  • The area of Poinciana Boulevard.

The operations will promote traffic safety to vehicle drivers, bicycle riders, and pedestrians and inform them of the applicable laws through education and enforcement.
