Osceola County deputies arrested a man on Friday after a mishap with a firearm led to the death of his roommate.
According to an Osceola County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies responded to 133 Pickering Drive, Kissimmee, after receiving a shooting call.
Upon arrival, deputies found Savannah Leigh Threatts dead from a gunshot wound. An investigation revealed that Anthonny Mendez, a roommate and friend of Threatts, had been negligently handling a firearm and ultimately shot her, the report stated.
Mendez was arrested and charged with manslaughter, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of probation. He is currently being held at the Osceola County Jail with zero bond.
