Kissimmee man dies after driving into BVL pond, FHP says

A 23-year-old Kissimmee man died early Friday when his car plunged into a retention pond in Buenaventura Lakes, Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the report, the man was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer southbound on on Waters Edge Drive, which is just south of Osceola Parkway. Troopers say he failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the left side of the road and entered the retention pond at Lost Creek Court. The car overturned and became submerged in the water. The driver was pronounced dead on scene.

While the call of the crash came in around 6:17 a.m., troopers said the exact time of the crash remains under investigation.

In May 2023, another driver, Jose Rafael Malave Lebron was found deceased inside of a submerged vehicle in the same pond. There is no fence separating the roadway from the pond.
