POINCIANA NEWS — No bells Saturday, just Back to School bashes!

RC Towing will host a back-to-school drive on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 12-5 p.m. at the 7-Eleven at the corner of Hemlock and Marigold Avenues. The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) will host a back to School Bash on Saturday, Aug. t from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Anthony DePalma Event Center (395 Marigold Ave.)  Students in grades K-12 will receive a free backpack filled with school supplies (while supplies last).  Food trucks and vendors will also be onsite. Mark your calendar for Zion’s Young Adult Ministry back to school drive on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Zion Redemption Church of God (4930 Old Pleasant Hill Road). Giveaways include: backpacks filled with school supplies, plus your chance to win Golden Ticket prizes.  The Golden Ticket giveaway includes 3 free haircuts, 3 free hairstyles and one winner will receive 4 tickets to Seaworld or Busch Gardens.

Chosen Generation Youth & Chosen Kids Ministries will be hosting a Back 2 School Bash 2026 on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 12 noon at 3200 Pleasant Hill Road.  Vendor space is still available.  A 10 x 10 space is $25 (tables and tents not provided). Help save lives during National Health Center Week!  Osceola Community Health Services and OneBlood will hold a community blood drive on Wednesday Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Osceola Community Health Services Poinciana Clinic (109 N. Doverplum Ave). Each donation can help to save lives. Check the Osceola Community Health Services Facebook page to find registration details and appointments sign-ups.

 

Osceola County is seeking residents to serve on the Lakes Advisory Committee.  Poinciana’s District, District 3 is in need of 2 Lakes Committee Advisors.  Committee members will help provide input related to the health and well-being of Osceola County’s lakes and river systems. The Poinciana Library will hold a Caribbean Festival on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 1-3 p.m. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, come out and experience the rich heritage, vibrant rhythms and unique flavors of Caribbean culture.  Create colorful crafts, interactive activities and cultural performances.

Collage Montage will celebrate your favorite memories by creating a photo collage on Thursday, July 30 from 2-3:30 p.m.  Bring your printed photos, supplies will be provided.

Rhythm, Rhyme & Storytime takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 10:30-11 a.m.  This program is for children up to age 5.  Sing, swing and sway through this program dedicated to music and movement.

Baby and Me takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 11:30 a.m.-12 noon.  Hug your little ones while sharing this special first-time experience.  This is for children up to 18 months. This program introduces books with playtime and repetitive music.

E.S.O.L. for Beginners is on Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 6:30-8 p.m.  This class allows non-English speakers to become more familiar with the English language.

Adults can have fun exploring simple design ideas while creating a journal perfect for notes, lists and creative moments by attending The Doodle Lab on Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 1-2 p.m.  Supplies will be provided.  Registration is required. To register, call 407-742-8888.
