Following Guntersville, Ala. pro Chris Lane’s victory in Major League Fishing’s Bass Pro Tour B&W Trailer Hitches Stage One on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, bass fishing action continues this Saturday with the second scheduled stop of MLF’s Phoenix Bass Fishing League’s Gator Division at the Kissimmee Lakefront Marina.

Expect a field of 175 boaters and just as many co-anglers to descend on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes for the one-day event.

This will actually be the first tournament of the Gator Division season, as January’s Okeechobee competition had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather.

The season consists of four tournaments, three on Lake County’s Harris Chain of Lakes, and a twoday super tournament in Palatka on the St. Johns River. Anglers will be competing for prize money and points to qualify for the Championship, to be held in Eufaula, Ala. They will also be competing for the Angler of the Year Title.

The 2022 Angler of the Year in the Gator Division hails from right here in St. Cloud. Mark Lundgren, who had two top-10 finishes last season, stayed consistent, and it paid off, earning him the title, a nice bonus and pride from his sponsors.

Lundgren is the OEM Relationship and Sales Manager for Amera Trail Custom Trailers and on the Pro Staff for Mercury Marine and Lowrance. He started his pro fishing career in 2003 and won the first tournament he fished in the B.F.L. Gator Division in 2011 on Lake Okeechobee. Overall, across Major League Fishing’s different series he has a combined 10 top 10 finishes and one victory.

Catch all the action Saturday at the Kissimmee Lakefront marina. Boats launch at safelight and weigh-in begins at 3 p.m. Look for the tournament results right here in The Reel Deal in next weeks edition of the Osceola News-Gazette. Tight lines friends!
