For clarification, if you served in any combat zone after 9/11, the Gulf War, or the Vietnam War, or were exposed to toxins such as burn pits, Agent Orange, radiation, depleted uranium, or other specific hazards during service—including at U.S. installations—you are eligible. VA Assistance for Family Caregivers
The VA recognizes the importance of family caregivers in supporting the health and wellness of Veterans. Benefits include a monthly stipend (payment), access to health care through the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA), free legal and financial planning assistance related to the needs of the injured Veteran, and at least 30 days of respite care a period of rest or a break from caregiving) per year, telehealth therapy sessions t for caregivers, and access to military commissaries, exchanges, and recreation retail facilities. 14-year-old Caleb Schneider from Cleveland, Ga., has put together an internet radio station to honor the Greatest Generation G.I.s of World War II. Young Caleb recently went to Camp Toccoa, the World War II home of the 82nd and 101st Divisions, and hiked up Currahee, made famous in the series “Band of Brothers,” with an M-1 Garand rifle and a steel pot helmet. St. Cloud Soldier City Sundays now Saturdays
This City-sponsored event has moved to the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. The Soldier City Market runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Veterans Park, on U.S. 192 at New York Ave. Admission is free, with local vendors, live entertainment, and veterans’ resources.
