The city of Kissimmee announces the opportunity to gather and honor those who have served our country, both past and present. Dinner With a Veteran on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 5-7 p.m. at the Chambers Park Community Center will feature a complimentary dinner and a time to relax, connect, and reflect on the contributions of our service members. Whether you bring a veteran you know or simply want to meet those who have served, everyone is welcome to participate. This event is designed to foster community spirit and appreciation. It’s a chance to listen to stories, share gratitude, and strengthen the bonds that make our community special. We also encourage attendees to bring friends and family.
In addition to dinner, there will be opportunities for networking and engaging with fellow community members through a heartfelt way to say thank you and show support for our veterans.

Registration is now open for the city’s Youth Basketball Recreational Leagues for children ages 5-17. This program provides an excellent opportunity for kids to develop their basketball skills, stay active, and enjoy the game in a positive and encouraging environment.
The leagues will be held at Denn John Middle School, with instruction provided by National Youth Sports Events. The league is designed to help players of all skill levels learn the game, compete, and have fun. Practices are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-9:30 p.m., and games will be held through the day on Saturdays. The league runs from October through March. Registration is $200, and information is available at kissimmee.gov/recsports.
This league is more than just about basketball; it’s about building teamwork, confidence, and a love for the game.
The city’s Sweet Sixteens program is designed to help teens build important leadership skills, support their peers, and earn community service hours that can be valuable for college applications and personal growth.
The sessions will take place at the Chambers Park Community Center, where Parks & Recreation staff lead discussions and activities aimed at fostering leadership, teamwork, and community involvement. The program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6 p.m., offering a convenient after-school commitment.
