The rain cleared up just in time for the grand opening of the Downtown St. Cloud Farmer’s Market Saturday, and the streets around City Hall were full of shoppers.

Double C Bar Ranch Blueberries opened last weekend. This blueberry U-pick-‘em farm is a fun filled day out in the country about 15 miles south of St. Cloud at 4200 Canoe Creek Road on the way down to Kenansville. In addition to the $6 per pound blueberries, there are oak-fire grilled burgers, fresh lemonade, jams and jellies, desserts and a farm store with asserted gifts available to tantalize your taste buds.

Starting Monday, Hemlock Avenue in Poinciana at the Marigold Avenue intersection will be closed for what officials say will be 45 days. The reason for this closure is to add a dedicated right and left turn lanes along the northbound and southbound roadway to the Marigold Avenue intersection. Other improvements include a new sidewalk, drainage and resurfacing to prepare the intersection for a proposed light.

The application period is now open for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) School Fishing Club Program. This annual educational program focuses on teaching youth anglers about best fishing practices to help ensure the future of fishing in Florida.

Spring officially started March 19, but those dates are kind of nebulous in Florida—it can be both cold (relatively) and hot (90 in March? That’s hot!). With many wildlife species becoming more active this time of year, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is sharing ways that residents and visitors can help conserve our native species while also preventing potential conflicts.

The 30th Annual Battle at Narcoossee Mill takes place this weekend, the fourth weekend in March, the 23rd and 24th at 2700 Chisolm Park Trail beginning at 9:30 a.m. both days (battle begins at 2 p.m.). Admission is $10, kids 5-11 $5 and under 5 are free.
