McCormick Research Institute invites all Veterans in the community and their families to a Camp McCormick Meet and Greet at the Osceola Therapeutic Equestrian Center (4651 Rummell Road) on Thursday, March 24 from 5:30-7 p.m. This is an opportunity to tour their barn, meet their horses and learn about their free Veteran’s Therapeutic Program.
If you are a post-9/11 Veteran with PTSD and you are under 215 pounds, there will be folk on hand to do a short interview with you to see if this program would work as therapy for you. The 8th Annual Florida Farm Show, Florida’s largest agricultural trade show will be next weekend, March 25-26 at the Ranch at St. Cloud (5452 Jones Road) starting at 9 a.m. both days. Admission is $5 before 3 p.m., and $10 after. There will be over 200 local vendors, heavy equipment retailers, food, family fun, educational opportunities and live music by country music artists Blanco Brown, Southerland, Diamond Dixie and many more.
Have you ever considered raising chickens? You can in St. Cloud! Keeping Backyard Chickens is a program that will be held on Tuesday (March 22) from 6-8 p.m. at the St. Cloud Civic Center. Learn how to keep chickens for fun and egg production. Topics will include chicken breeds, designing coops and pens and chicken nutrition and health. This program meets the requirement for the St. Cloud Backyard Chicken Keeping Program.
The 8th Annual Kenansville Swamp Cabbage Festival, 1180 S. Canoe Creek Road (the Old School House) will be Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. Also on hand will be craft vendors, entertainment, raffles and a bounce house. Enjoy barbeque ribs or chicken, beans, coleslaw and swamp cabbage for $10.

The 28th Annual Battle at Narcoossee Mill will take place March 26- 27 at 4700 Chisholm Park Trail. Open to the public each day at 9:30 a.m., battles begin at 2 p.m. each day. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for 5-11 and under 5 are free. The event includes authentic artillery, cavalry, infantry, sutlers and period vendors. Attendees can also visit Civil War area camps.
