AARP Foundation Tax Aide provides tax consulting with several preparation options. This service is free of charge, with special focus on those over age 50 or with low to moderate income. Monday from Feb. 1 through April 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tax Aide will be available at the Anthony DePalma Center (395 Marigold Ave.). These services will be available in both English and Spanish. ShotVet will be providing affordable pet vaccines along with flea control and heartworm on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 10-11 a.m. at Petsense (4350 Pleasant Hill Road). Petsense offers pet products and a variety of pet services. For more information, call 844-872-1000.

 

The first market of 2024 happens this Saturday. Throw on a sweater (or two!) and visit the Southport Market Place on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This pet-friendly outdoor market features local crafts, baked goods, local honey, jams and jellies, candles, soaps, plants and more. There are a wide variety of vendors. The Southport Market Place is located at 2001 E. Southport Road.

 

Sixth and ninth-grade orientation and curriculum nights for Osceola County school district are happening later this month. Incoming 6th grade Orientation Night will be Monday, Jan. 22 at all Middle and K-8 schools. Incoming 9th grade Curriculum Night will be Monday, Jan. 29 at all High Schools (except Osceola County School for the Arts and Neo City Academy). Each event is from 6-7:30 p.m.

Students and parents of rising 6th and 9th graders are invited to meet their new principals, get an idea of what classes are offered, make their way around the campus and learn about the curriculum, clubs, extracurricular sports and more.

 

The APV 2024 elections for open seats on Village 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 Boards take place on Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the APV Community Center, 445 Marigold Ave. All election information is posted on www. apvcommunit y. com. Only homeowners and property owners are eligible to vote.
