ST. CLOUD NEWS: Two Advisory Boards need volunteers

The City of St. Cloud has your way to get more involved with the city: volunteer to serve the Historic Preservation Board or the Recreation Advisory Committee.

Applications are due by 9 a.m. on Monday, June 30. To learn more about each committee, details on the duties and to submit an online application, visit: https://www.stcloudfl. gov/33/Committees-Boards to get information and apply online. Applicants are encouraged to contact City Council members to discuss their applications and qualifications.

If you’ve applied in the past year for either of these boards, you do not need to submit a new application, as applications are kept on file for 12 months.

Celebrate America by saving lives. Give blood and score a 4th of July t-shirt, four movie tickets and a wellness check if you donate between from July 1-5. Stop by OneBlood’s Big Red Bus at the Neighborhood Walmart at 2125 Nolte Road on Wednesday, July 2 between 12-5 p.m.

The Big Red Bus will also be at Value Pawn, (4221 13th St.) on July 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Publix of St. Cloud (4401 13th St.) on July 3 from 12-5 p.m. and Super Walmart St. Cloud (4400 E. 13th St.) on July 2 from 1-6 p.m.

Ready! Set! Swim! The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson takes place today, Thursday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center, 2991 17th St. Be a part a part of an amazing global event to learn important water competency and safety skills. Drowning is preventable, yet it is the single leading cause of death for kids ages 1-4 and the second leading cause of death/attended injury for kids ages 5-14. Sign-up at the Center.

 

Registration is now open for Osceola Flag Football at Harmony Middle School. This league is for boys and girls in grades K-12, no experience necessary. The season runs in September and October, with a six-game season plus playoffs and championship game. The fee is $175 for the season (siblings receive a $25 discount).
