On Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, we honor all who served in any branch of the military. On Memorial Day, which comes up Monday, we remember and honor those who lost their lives while serving our country.
Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony will be held on Monday (May 30) from 10 a.m. to noon at Mt. Peace Cemetery, (775 E. 10th St.), including the laying of wreaths and remembrance.
St. Cloud Main Street has an opportunity to honor your family, business or loved ones with an inscribed brick to be placed in the Veteran’s Reflection Garden located at the corner of New York Avenue and 10th Street. The cost is $50 per brick. Send an email to lisa@ stcloudmainstreet.org to receive your order form.
Last week we talked about downtown programs taking a summer hiatus. Here’s one that’s starting back up! March to Your Own Story returns this summer courtesy of St. Cloud Main Street. Each week, begin your tour at the St. Cloud Police substation on 10th Street to pick up a book and a map that will lead you on a stroll through downtown St. Cloud. The first story begins on May 29 and will continue through the month of June. The map will take you to specific locations to glance into the store fronts of participating merchants, reading one page at a time until you complete the week’s story, meeting the author on the Saturday of each event.
The May 29 book is Abraham the Alligator by Paula Stark. June 5 is Bug on A Rug by Sophia Gholz, June 12 is the Sixth Sunday by Arielle Haughee, June 19 is La Viejita Romonita by Lisette Diaz. There will be book signing at specific locations on the Saturday at the end of each tour from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
