October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to bring awareness of this disease. During October, people wear pink to honor survivors, in remembrance to those lost to this disease and to support progress to defeat breast cancer.
The 3rd annual Pinktoberfest 2021 will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Centennial Park (1214 10th St.) in St. Cloud. The City of St. Cloud and Pink Heals St. Cloud Charter have teamed up to celebrate Pinktoberfest to raise awareness and funds for the St. Cloud Charter of Pink Heals as well as support those battling cancer.
Pink Heals is a nonprofit health care support group, proving financial and emotional support for families battling cancer. All funds raised in St. Cloud stay in St. Cloud.
Pinktoberfest kicks with health and wellness exhibitors, community business vendors and a Kid’s Zone. At 12 p.m., register your team for the Pink Fire Truck Pull. The competition begins at 1:30 p.m. Teams of 10 compete for the fastest pull time and best costume.
For information call Erin at 407-957-7226. Vendors and Truck Pull team spots are still available. Vendor spaces are available for a $25 donation to Pink Heals of St. Cloud. Fire Truck Pull entry is $200 in advance or $250 the day of the event.
Be aware of the following street closings for this event at 6 a.m. on Saturday: New York Avenue from 10th St. to City Hall, 9th Street from City Hall to Pennsylvania Avenue. 10th St. will remain open. The closed streets will reopen at 4 p.m.
Youths ages 13 and older can make a spooky splash at the Dive-In “Boovie” on Friday night at the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center (3001 17th St.). The cost is $3 per person, gates open at 8 p.m. and the movie starts at 8:15 p.m. For more information, call 407-957-7136.
Dust off your brooms! St. Cloud Main Street is calling all Witches and Warlocks to present themselves! It’s time to register for the German Witches Dance Competition. Prizes will be given to both men and women for Best Costume, Best Broom/Staff and Best Dance.
