A Saturday full of events in St. Cloud!

If you stay home on Saturday, it’s of your own choosing — there are plenty of community events going on.

Start the day at the Borrow Pit Pond Fishing Derby, starting at 9 a.m. at Borrow Pit Pond on Budinger Avenue, (across from St. Cloud Elementary School). Anglers ages 3-12 can compete in this total weight fishing derby. Cost is $10 per child. Bait will be provided. Online registration is a vailable at https://bit.ly/379eaer.

If it’s a good book you seek, the St. Cloud Friends of the Library will hold their Spring Book Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Library (810 13th St.). It’s a great opportunity to stock your book shelf while supporting the “Friends”. Prices are $3 per bag (grocery store size) and 25 to 50 cents for most individual items. The sale will be held outside in the parking lot under the white tent.

The City of St. Cloud’s Earth Day/Arbor Day 2022 Celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Peghorn Park, 2101 Peghorn Way. Earth Day/Arbor Day 2022 will feature environmental exhibitors, up-cycling, crafts, live music, give aways, food trucks and local vendors. Activities will include clean-up, nature trail, recycling batteries and more.

Be sure to stop by the Osceola County Historical Society’s table and learn a little about Osceola County history. For more information go to, www.Stcloud.org or call St. Cloud Parks and Recreation at 407-957-7243.

Later in the morning, Backyard Gardeners can come show off some of your produce. Osceola County Grown is offering this free event for home gardeners to share ideas, information and even seeds, if they wish. They will have a chef to cook up some of the produce for samples. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5700 E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy., St. Cloud. For more information, contact Prattne7@gmail.com.

By late afternoon, you’ll be hungry, and American Legion Post 80 (1019 Pennsylvania Ave.) will host a chili cookoff to benefit Wreaths Across America on at 5 p.m. Entry fee is $10, $5 to judge. Entries are open to the public. There will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. In addition, there will be other prizes, raffles and karaoke at 7 p.m.

The City of St. Cloud is seeking resident’s input – either in-person or virtually — on proposed changes to the city’s Comprehensive Plan. There will be an in-person meeting on Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the St. Cloud Community Church (1717 13th St.) and via Zoom on Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m. For more information call, 407-957-7142.

The City of St. Cloud is also looking for input to access the need for funding for public health and economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Information from the survey will help to determine the best way to invest the City’s American Rescue Plan Act funds. To share your input, go to https://www.stcloudfl.gov/2096/External-Needs-Survey.
