The Silver Spurs Rodeo may be over and the professionals gone, but here is an opportunity for the rest of us folks to do some wrangling.
Volunteers are needed, especially for those like to work outdoors and for students looking to earn volunteer hours necessary for graduation. Join Osceola CISMA in their Weed Wrangle by helping remove invasive plants on March 5 from 10 a.m. to noon at Peghorn Nature Park (2101 Peghorn Way). Wear closed-toed shoes and appropriate clothes for working outdoors. Gloves will be provided.
Osceola CISMA stands for Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area. Its mission is to create a partnership of federal, state, and local government agencies, private land owners, individuals, and various i nterested groups that develop resources, educate, and share information to manage exotic invasive species in Osceola County.
Osceola CISMA holds regular meetings to share information about exotic invasive species, grant opportunities, and networking. It conducts workshops on invasive species identification and control methods, bringing in experts to address a wide range of invasive species issues. The Osceola CISMA helps raise awareness of emerging threats with prioritization of new species to watch out for and creation of identification materials.
It coordinates invasive plant and animal removal projects, particularly for Rapid Response to new invasive species. The Osceola CISMA coordinates outreach and education events such as Air Potato Mega Raid, Invasive Species Awareness Week, Exotic Pet Amnesty Day, and more.

Listen to the sound of live acoustic Bluegrass Music inside St. Cloud’s Historic Cannery at Peghorn Park, 2101 Peghorn Way, St. Cloud on the second Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Musicians from around the area are invited to participate in these Bluegrass Jam Sessions. Unlike mainstream country music, Bluegrass is traditionally played on stringed instruments. Musicians, bring your own instruments. The sessions are free and spectators are welcome.
