Turn the calendar to October, and it’s time to talk Halloween!

The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) is looking for volunteers for the annual Trunk or Treat Haunted House and Harvest Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Poinciana Activity Campus. Check in is at 4 p.m. and the event is from 6-10 p.m. Trunks should have treats and have a Halloween theme. There will be an anonymous mystery judge wandering the Activity Campus to choose the winner for best Trunk 2023.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Join Dr. Peejal Patel for an interactive Lunch and Learn seminar at HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 12-1 p.m. in the Hospital’s Poinciana room. Dr. Patel will be discussing symptoms, treatments and screening options for breast cancer. Registration is required. To register, call 888-253-8117.

Cosmic STEAM Nights 2023 will be held at Osceola County Title 1 District Middle schools this fall. Step inside the Orlando Science Center’s Mobil Planetarium to view planets, constellations, galaxies and more. This free event gives students and families a hands-on STEAM activities experience. Cosmic STEAM night in the Poinciana area, will be on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Discovery Intermediate School. Space is limited to the first 200.
