Love Makes Me Grow will host Chestnut Elementary School Back to School Bash and Job Fair this Friday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chestnut Elementary School, 4300 Chestnut St.

In addition to back-to-school giveaways local businesses with current job opportunities, such as Walt Disney Resorts, South State Bank and SMG Group will be onsite.

This is a great opportunity to learn about Love Makes Me Grow’s gardening classes. Love Makes Me Grow’s mission statement is “to teach diverse communities the value and importance of living off the land. We promote and develop the social and economic growth of the individual, regardless of limitations and barriers”. Their nine-week program has experts to educate families on how to create their own food garden.

Love movies? Then you will love The Movies Lovers Club which meets Saturday, Aug. 5 from 3-5 p.m. at the Poinciana library. If you appreciate classic and modern cinema, come and dissect and discuss a new movie each month. This month’s movie is “Some Like It Hot.” Learn how it inspired the comedy genre.

Book Binding for Beginners takes place Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 4-5:30 p.m. Learn the process behind binding a notebook. Supplies will be provided.

The Library will hold a Volunteer Fair on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 1 p.m. Make a difference in your community and discover local volunteer opportunities with organizations like Give Kids the World, Osceola Historical Society and more.

All Library programs are free and open to the public.

 

It’s almost time to breakout those Hawaiian shirts and dust off those grass skirts at APV’s Adult Luau Time! The Luau will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26 by the APV Victory Pool. More information to follow, so keep it right here!
