Bellalago Veterinary Hospital (3809 Pleasant Hill Road) will hold a Night of Remembrance on Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. This night is to remember dearly beloved pets who have left us. Luminaries will be available and tributes, donations and gifts to be left around these luminaries or placed in collection containers will be accepted. Cash donations will go to the Dr. Christa Young Memorial Angel Fund. New or gently used items will be donated to the Humane Society of Polk County following the event. This January marks the second anniversary of Dr. Young’s passing from a pulmonary embolism at just 39 years old; she founded Bellalago Veterinary Hospital.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office invites all Poinciana residents to Three Kings celebration on Jan. 6 from 12-2 p.m. on the Poinciana Community Lawn at the Community Center (445 Marigold Ave.) There will lots to do and see while waiting for the arrival of the Kings. To register, go to the Association of Poinciana Villages Facebook page and click on the QR code on the event flyer.

Later that day, Commissioner Brandon Arrington’s Three Kings Day Toy Giveaway will be at Valencia College’s Poinciana campus from 3-5 p.m. This festive celebration includes music, cookies, giveaways, pony rides and free toys for kids (while supplies last). Children must be present to receive a gift at this outdoor event.

 

Poinciana Wolf Pack Youth Football and Cheer is having an 8-on-8 tryout for all ages on Jan. 6 at noon. The fee is $5 for the day. Tryouts will be at Deerwood Community Park (4051 Laurel Ave.) For more information, call 321-805-7796.

Sixth and ninth-grade orientation and curriculum nights are Jan. 22 from 6-7:30 p.m. at all middle and K-8 schools, and Jan. 29 from 6-7:30 p.m. at all high schools. Students and parents of rising sixth and ninth graders are invited to meet their new principals, get an idea of what classes are offered, make their way around the campus and learn about the curriculum, clubs, extracurricular sports and more.
