There is still time to nominate your home or your neighbor’s home for the annual Poinciana Beautiful Awards. The homes that are nominated have shown pride maintaining their homes, which shows pride for the community.

To enter your home for consideration, stop by any Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) building and ask for a nomination card or go to www.apvcommunity.com and under Forms go to Poinciana Beautiful Entry.

There will be an awards banquet in January for winners in each Village.

 

Christmas Family Fun Day, a free event at First Baptist Poinciana, (601 Walnut St.) takes place on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interact with Gatorland’s fine friends, and there will be train rides, a rock climbing wall and bounce houses for the bigger and littleer ones. Enjoy carnival games and prizes, cotton candy, popcorn, Italian Ice and more. There to be drawings for prizes to be given away on Sunday, Dec. 17 during the Christmas Spectacular Event that begins at the church at 7 p.m. (must be present to win).

Later on Saturday, party with Santa from 35 p.m. at Valencia College –Poinciana Campus. Join Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington and take a photo with Santa. Dance to seasonal tunes, indulge in sweet treats and enjoy pony rides. There will also be plenty of giveaways.

 

JamSessionSports Athletics presents JSSA Winter Basketball Clinic at Poinciana Community Park (5109 Allegheny Road) during the holiday break. Sessions are Dec. 21-23 and Dec. 28-30 from 9:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per child per day, with a $5 discount for sign-ups before Thursday, Dec. 21 (all players must sign a waiver prior to participating). Throughout November, HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital colleagues, patients and residents donated food, resulting in a collection of over 450 pounds. This contribution went to support the Palmetto Elementary food pantry. Poinciana Hospital also donated bikes to Palmetto Elementary and Laurel Elementary.

 

Construction continues on Fire Station 85 on Cypress Parkway. Casting slabs have been installed and some parts on the building slab in living quarters have been poured.
