Polk County residents, if you need help with debris, tarp, trees or muck cleanup damage call 844-965-1386 to ask for help. You will be connected with volunteers from local relief organizations, community groups and faith communities.

 

The Solivita Community Yard Sale takes place in Solivita on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 8-11 a.m. This rain or shine event is open to the public. Just follow the signs in Solivita.

 

It’s time to register your fabulous decorated trunk filled with treats! The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) Trunk or Treat and Fall Festival is happening on Saturday, Oct. 26. Residents and businesses in Poinciana present this safe and fun filled Halloween event.

Adults can improve their skills by attending the Using the Internet session at the Poinciana Library on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 10-11 a.m. Learn how to use a web browser, get an email address and make secure online transactions.

Then, at 4:30 p.m., explore the five senses by attending Sensory Playdate. These sensory activities will benefit all children but are particular help to those on the autism spectrum or those with sensory integration challenges.

Retirement 101 takes place at the Library on Friday, Oct. 18 from 10-11 a.m. Presented by AmeriLife, you will learn how to protect your health and wealth by preparing for your future.

Then at 1 p.m., come out and Paint the Town. Presented by local artist Dominique Jarrett, on lock your creativity each month by creating a masterpiece. Supplies will be provided. Registration is required. Contact the Library at 407-742-8888.

Teens Beyond Limits: Paint & Pastries takes place on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10-11 a.m. In this team programing, created by teens, Ms. Nikki, from the Poinciana Library, will present a guided tutorial on how to create an acrylic painting. Wear clothes that you do not mind getting messy. All supplies are provided.

Adults ages 18 and up—roll up some fun with Dungeons and Dragons gaming on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 2-4 p.m. Use your imagination and problem-solving skills while socializing with others who enjoy role playing games. Bring your own dice. Registration is required. Contact the Library at 407-742-8888.

Rhythm, Rhyme & Storytime takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 10:30-11 a.m. Toddlers sing, swing and sway through this program dedicated to music and movement. This is an opportunity for a fun filled learning activity as you watch your child develop their vocabulary, counting skills, creative thinking and listening skills.

Baby & Me also happens on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. This program is for babies birth to 18 months. Share this special first time Library experience with your little one. This story time introduces books with play time and repetitive music.

Bring your pre-school age child to the Library on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 10:30=11:30 a.m. for Flex Your Fingers: Fine Motor Skills Workshop allows you to spend quality time with your child in a kids center learning environment with other preschool age children. Participate in pre-planned activities that encourage the development of fine motor skills, listening skills, early reading skills, socialization and creativity through stories, games and activities.

LEGO Club for school age children age 6-11 meets on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Build a LEGO masterpiece using your imagination, creativity and engineering skills. Complete one of the Library’s challenges or make something uniquely yours.
