Need a good laugh close to home? Punchlines in Poinciana will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7 starting at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) at the Anthony DePalma Center (395 Marigold Ave.) This stand-up comedy show is headlined by actress/comedian Esther Ku from MTV’s Wild n’ Out and Girl Code (as seen on Comedy Central and Americas Got Talent). This evening will also feature Eugene Torres and Kevin Deane, regularly seen at The Improv, Snappers, Laugh Out Lounge and many other popular comedy rooms. Hosted by Spunky Robinson, as seen on Shaq’s All-Star Comedy, the DJ for the evening will be DJ Truth.

Love Makes Me Grows 9-Step Gardening program begins Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. and runs through Nov. 1 at Chestnut Elementary School for Science and Engineering (4300 Chestnut St.. Fall pool hours have begun at the Poinciana Victory Pool and the Mary Jane Arrington Aquatic Center. The new pool hours are Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Both facilities will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

 

Cosmic STEAM Nights 2023 will be held at Osceola County Title 1 District Middle schools this fall. Step inside the Orlando Science Center’s Mobil Planetarium to view planets, constellations, galaxies and more. This free event gives students and families a handson STEAM activities experience. This is an opportunity to learn through Virtual Reality (VR) Robotic Spheros.

The first STEAM night in the Poinciana area will be Thursday, Sept. 28 at Horizon Middle School (2020 Ham Brown Road). On Thursday, Oct. 26, Cosmic STEAM Night will be at Discovery Intermediate School, (5320 San Miguel Road). Cosmic STEAM Night is from 6-8 p.m. on all dates, and space is limited to the first 200 participants.

 

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office on Wheels will be at the Poinciana Walmart (904 Cypress Pkwy.) on Friday, Sept. 29 from 4-8 p.m. This is a meet-and-greet with Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez and his canine sidekick Bacon. This is an opportunity for Osceola County residents to meet and talk to the top cop in the County.
