    The community is invited to attend the Homeowners Award Gala, which announces a homeowner in each village, whose home will carry the title of Home of the Year on Saturday, Jan. 27.

The deadline is fast approaching (Friday, Jan. 12 at 5 p.m.) to nominate a home for the Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) Poinciana Beautiful, a celebration of homes in Poinciana. The community is invited to attend the Homeowners Award Gala, which announces a homeowner in each village, whose home will carry the title of Home of the Year on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 7-10 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Center. This formal event is for adults only (21 and over).

Check-in and cocktail hour is from 6-7 p.m. at the Anthony DePalma Center (395 Marigold Ave.). Guests will be treated to live entertainment and dancing, table served hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and door prizes.

Awards will be presented to the winners of the 2023 Homes of the Year, who will receive a trophy and numerous prizes and gifts from the sponsors of the Award Ceremony.

Speaking of APV, the 2024 elections for open seats on Village 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 boards takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the APV Community Center (445 Marigold Ave.)

All voting information is posted on www.apvcommunity.com. Only homeowners and property owners are eligible to vote.

 

Here is an excellent start for the New Year —visit the Southport Market Place on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This pet-friendly outdoor market features local crafts, baked goods, local honey, jams and jellies, candles, soaps, plants and more. There are a wide variety of vendors. The Southport Market Place is located at 2001 E. Southport Road.

 

The following roads are scheduled for resurfacing from Jan. 16-31. Work will be performed daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be temporary lane closures but no road closures: Del Prado Drive, Del Ray Drive from San Remo Road to Del Prado Drive, Del Reo Way from San Remo Road to Del Prado Drive, Del Norte Way from Del Reo Way to cul-de-sac, and Del Shasta Way from Del Prado Drive to the cul-de-sac.
