Celebrate St. Cloud at the Homestead Picnic

The Peghorn Homestead Picnic will be held on May 7th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Peghorn Nature Park and Trail (2101 Peghorn Way).

Come celebrate St. Cloud’s past, present and future at this free family fun event. Many activities are scheduled for both children and adults recognizing the culture of homesteading; bee keeping, canning, homestead crafts, horseshoe games, hikes, native plant discussions and a blacksmith demonstration. Live music, local food trucks and free seeds to take home round out this day showcasing a lifestyle of self-sufficiency. For more information, call 407-957-7243.

Registration begins this week (Friday, April 29) for the 2022 Ron Riley Youth Basketball Summer League. Fee is $70 per child for city residents and $80 per child for non-city residents. The age group schedule is: Boys 9-11 games on Mondays, Boys 12-14 Tuesdays, Girls 9-12 and 13-17 on Wednesdays, Boys 15-17 on Thursdays, Co-ed 7-8 on Fridays and Co-ed 5-6 practice on Saturdays. Practices begin the week of May 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Theatre in the Cloud, a non-profit community theatre group, is holding casting auditions today and Friday from 3-5 p.m. for three adult male roles between the ages of 20- 50. Those auditioning are asked to prepare a 1-2-minute comedic dialogue. Auditions will be held at the Women’s Club Building (1012 Massachusetts Ave.) Actors must be available on all show dates – July 15-17 and 22-24.

National Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The purpose of National Drug Take Back Day is to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way in disposing prescription drugs while educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications. You can turn in used or expired medications at Publix Center of St. Cloud, 4401 13th St. and Veterans Memorial St. Cloud Library, 810 13th St.

Here is a unique opportunity to honor your family, business or loved ones. St. Cloud Main Street will inscribe bricks to be placed in the Veterans Reflection Garden at the corner of New York Avenue and 10th Street. The cost is $50 per brick. The next adult day trip, leaving from the St. Cloud Community Center (3101 17th St.) will be Thursday, May 26. Explore the St. Johns River by boat while enjoying a chef prepared meal. There will be live entertainment on this climate-controlled vessel. Round trip transportation, cruise, lunch and goody bag included. The cost is $115 per person.
