This year’s Poinciana Area Council scholarship awards have a twist. They will award four $1,000 scholarships: two to graduating high school seniors and two to students already enrolled in a technical education program, two or four-year degree program or Master’s program at a post-secondary educational institution. These scholarships are open to anyone residing in ZIP codes 34758, 34759 or 34746.

The Poinciana Library (101 N. Doverplum Ave.) will show the movie Harriet on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 1-4 p.m. Learn the story of Harriet Tubman and her journey through her escape from slavery to the dangerous missions she led, setting free hundreds of slaves through the Underground Railroad. This movie is rated PG-13 and is for adults 19+. This is a wonderful way to wrap up Black History Month.

OneBlood’s Big Red Bus will be at the Library on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 1-6 p.m. Be a hero by donating blood. Temperatures will be taken upon arrival. For more information, visit oneblood.org.

 

Poinciana Christian Preparatory School (4942 Old Pleasant Hill Road and 2525 Trafalgar Blvd.) are offering Spring Fun Programs during Spring Break, March 11-15. Kids can enjoy games, sports, spring themed activities, arts and crafts and more.

Hours are from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Aftercare is from 3-6 p.m. and early care is from 6-7:30 a.m. with an additional fee.

 

Graduating Class of 2024 Seniors–learn more about Osceola Prosper on Tuesday, Mar. 5 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Valencia College Poinciana campus.
