One season after unseating Osceola as the county’s top team and winning its first district boys basketball title in school history, the Harmony Longhorns may be facing a rebuild but still hopes to challenge for the top spot in both the county and district basketball race.

Magic return to Silver Spurs Thursday after three road wins

The Osceola Magic return to their home wonderland, the Silver Spurs Arena, Thursday after what’s been a fairly successful road trip through Texas. The Memphis Hustle (3-5), who the Magic (5-3) needed a huge comeback to defeat on Nov. 17, come looking for revenge.

GIRLS BASKETBALL PREVIEW — Could county’s three playoff teams from last year be joined by more this year?

Last season was notable in Osceola County on several fronts, and the 2023-24 season should be no different. Both Gateway and St. Cloud return the majority of their 20-win teams, while Harmony and Osceola continue to be on the upswing.

With a top eight finish in regionals, the Tohopekaliga boys cross country team qualified for the FHSAA Class 4A state championship meet in Tallahassee last Friday.  Tohopekaliga posted counting times by Jared Lopez (17:49.8), Cameron Ford (17:54.6), Nick Boone (18:04.6), and Darwin Vega (18:17).

The Osceola Magic needed a furious fourth-quarter comeback Friday to defeat the Memphis Hustle, 125-116 Friday night to sweep their first two NBA G League games at the Silver Spurs Arena this week.

FALL SPORTS WRAP-UP — Kowboys fall in football playoffs; St. Cloud has magical run in golf

Snake bit. That’s how to describe Osceola’s 2023 football season that ended Friday with a 28-0 loss at Treasure Coast, the top seed in Region 4S-3. Osceola finished the season with an uncharacteristic 4-7 record, but a ton of extenuating circumstances went into that.

Osceola Roster Set for Cure Bowl

Top senior high school football rivals from around Osceola County will gather as teammates on Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. for the second annual Cure Bowl at East Ridge High School. They will play seniors from Lake County, and proceeds will benefit cancer research.
