City of Life Christian Academy (COLCA) Girls Basketball Team is at it again.

Coming off a third consecutive 20-win season, the Warriors are once again on pace to win 20 games, compete for the Sunshine State Conference title and make another run into the FHSAA Class 2A State Tournament, after pushing their season record to 16-0 on Saturday with a 54-42 win over Class 7A Haggerty in the OCP Private vs. Public School Showdown.

The Warriors would jump out to a 23-0 lead in the first quarter, and would expand the lead to 25 by taking a 35-10 lead at the half.

From there, Head Coach Dewie Buggs would empty the bench and cruise to the 12-point win. In the victory, City of Life would get 19 points from Jashlynn Vega-Rivera, a seventh grader, and 13 from senior Jenelisse Marty-Marrero.

The victory over Haggerty was the eighth time this season City of Life has defeated a team in a larger classification. The Warriors own victories this season over Class 7A Lake Nona, 6A opponent Poinciana, 5A foes Windermere and Jones, Class 4A opponents North Miami Beach and Tenoroc, and Class 3A opponents Windermere Prep and Santa Fe Catholic.

Fourteen of their 16 wins have been by double digits. Only 13-7 Jones (68-66) and 15-4 Santa Fe Catholic 70-66 have stayed within 10 points of City of Life.

The Warriors, who have won three state Sunshine State Conference state titles, and also won the FHSAA Class 2A title in 2018 over Calvary Christian, do not appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

Marty-Marrero, who is averaging 12.1 points-per-game, is the only senior on the squad. Vega-Rivera leads the team with 14.6 ppg, Camila De pool-Maisonet is an eighth grader who is second on the team in scoring at 13.3 ppg.
