The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed at 2:13 p.m. that four are dead and an additional nine were taken to local hospitals with various injuries. The suspect is reportedly 14 years old.

WEDNESDAY — Another school shooting. That's the update.

Sheriff's officials from Barrow County, Georgia reported Wednesday that a suspect is in custody after a shooting with multiple victims at Apalachee High School in Winder, about 45 minutes northeast of Atlanta.

Officials release few details of the incident, noting it's a "fluid situation" with multiple agencies involved, including the FBI and the GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation).

"We're asking for your patience," Sheriff Jud Smith said at a quick 1:30 p.m. press conference. "What you see behind us is an evil thing."

They said the first call of a shooting came after 9:30 a.m., which sent Apalachee High School  into a hard lockdown. CNN reported at least one medical helicopter could be seen airlifting a patient from the scene, and a local hospital has received patients with gunshot wounds.

Sheriff's officials only confirmed "multiple injuries". Current objectives are to reunite students with parents, and secure other schools in the county, which Smith called "chaotic."

FBI, GBI and police said they hoped to provide an update at 4 p.m.
