Jim Brown, who for a generation was the NFL's all-time leading ground gainer despite playing only nine seasons, passed away at age 87, his family reported.

For the third consecutive year and 11th time in school’s 19-year history, Harmony has won the Orange Belt Conference’s All-Sports Trophy as the top athletic program in Osceola County. The announcement was made at Wednesday’s annual OBC Awards Dinner at Osceola Heritage Park.

A return trip to the FHSAA boys volleyball state tournament was on the line Tuesday night when the Celebration Storm (20-9) hosted the Horizon Hawks (17-9) in the Region 2 Final. The state championship begins Friday at Polk State College in Winter Haven, and the Storm will be in it!

Although it was a straight set win over No. 3 ranked Dr. Phillips, Celebration head coach Pedro Davila was not particularly enthused about his team’s 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 victory in Friday’s Region 3 boys volleyball semifinal.

Harmony, St. Cloud softball seasons end in regional quarterfinals

Osceola County's two playoff softball teams couldn't extend the season Thursday. At Harmony, the Longhorns (10-8) couldn't match the big hits of Jupiter (18-5), and fell 12-4 in a Region 7A-3 quarterfinal game. Down in Port St. Lucie, St. Cloud fell to Centennial, 2-0.

Negron saves the day for Kowboys in baseball regional playoffs

Carlos Negron pitched six and one-third innings of one hit ball to lead the Osceola Kowboys (16-9) to a 6-3 come-from-behind win over Wellington in FHSAA Class 7A playoff action Wednesday. The win sends the Kowboys into a Region 3 semifinal road game on Saturday against top-seeded Park Vista.

Overcoming a sluggish first set, Celebration defeated Windermere 23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-15 Wednesday to the second round advance in the FHSAA Class boys volleyball championship.   The Storm – 19-9 and winners of six straight matches -- will host third-seeded Dr. Phillips (17-6) Friday.
