When the 2023 Orange Belt Conference Golf Championships are held next week, the St. Cloud Lady Bulldogs will be highly favored to win their seventh straight championship; but on the boys’ side the Celebration Storm appear poised to have an opportunity to break the Bulldogs’ four-title run.

The 100th edition of the annual football game between Osceola and St. Cloud High Schools had a little bit of everything, including a homecoming of sorts for many former players, coaches and cheerleaders.

It was a rematch of last year’s Class 7A state semifinals, and the results were unfortunately the same for the Osceola. Hagerty (11-4), ranked 6th in the state, edged the Lady Kowboys (11-5), 17-25, 28-26, 25-15, 23-25, 11-15 Monday in volleyball action.

After Liberty scored just 12 points all last season, first-year head coach Dee Hart called the Chargers 41-13 loss to Davenport last week a “moral victory.”  But after Thursday night’s 20-17 actual win over Celebration, Hart said he doesn’t want to talk about “moral victories” ever again.

Thursday night football — Storm, Chargers seek first win

All eight county football teams will be in action this week. The Tohopekaliga Tigers seek to remain undefeated; while the Liberty Chargers under first year coach Dee Hart will be looking for their first win in 23 months when they travel to Celebration Thursday night.
