St. Cloud bounced back in a big way from a season-opening loss Friday by piling up over 400 yards of offense in defeating Pine Ridge, 47-7, in Deltona.
T.J. Griffin and Owen Connor combined for 200 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, and sophomore Logan King fired three touchdown passes, two to Yadiel Rivera. Jake Dabrowski and Daryl Massey added scores.
The defense had its share of fun, too, forcing five turnovers -- three interceptions and two recovered fumbles.
"I told the boys in the pre-game meal, teams make their biggest gains from Week 1 to 2 if they're going to compete," Coach Mike Short said. "It hurt us not to have our Kickoff Classic (weathered-out versus Windermere). We fixed a lot of our mistakes and had a good game plan for this one. In the first half we had no negative plays on offense.
"That was the good one we needed."
The 1-1 Bulldogs will look to put together a winning streak next Friday when they head to Liberty. The Chargers (0-2) are still looking for their first points of the year after a 55-0 loss to Eau Gallie Thursday.
