Against a home crowd, and despite Simpson giving USC a 10-0 lead with a first-quarter 80-yard touchdown, the Trojans lost, 27-16. He was eventually found not guilty by a jury in October, but the Goldman family sued him in a civil case that found him liable for the death and won a $33.5 million judgment.

Simpson said items were stolen from him and he was trying to reclaim them, but he was convicted of 12 counts of armed robbery and kidnapping and sentenced to 33 years in prison. He was released on parole in October 2017.
