Kissimmee Indios take Osceola Senior Softball title

The Kissimmee Indios won the championship last week in the annual Osceola Senior Softball League, a group of players over 55 years old that’s been active in the city of Kissimmee for nearly 30 years.

The Indios completed their championship Monday with an 19-2 win over Marrero’s Jewelers to take the best-of-3 championship series.

The Indios are made up of Manager Felix Navarro and Victor Aviles, Miguel Gonzalez, Ray Ortiz, Gus Toro, Cesar Vasquez, Freddy Morales, Jose Lopez, Larry Williams, Antonio Lez, Tony Caressimo and Pat Giles.

The rest of the 2021-22 league included Marrero’s, Twin Lakes, The Cup Diner, Allstate, Canavesi’s Crew, V.F.W. Post 3227, and Pinch A Penny.

The league played from November to last week’s playoffs. Since its founding in 1995, Osceola Senior Softball has been devoted to providing an outlet for active seniors to stay in shape both physically and mentally while playing a game they love. All seniors are welcome regardless of skill level or place of residence; the only limitation is that they be 55, or turn 55 during that season.

Starting in March, for the rest of the spring and into the fall, league players play pickup games at 9 a.m. Mondays and Fridays at the Denn John softball fields behind Valencia College and the Makinson Aquatic Center.
