Former resident: no reprieve from growth
Dear Editor:
As a former resident (45+ years) of Osceola County and a 1980 graduate of Osceola High School, I return to Kissimmee to visit my parents, usually twice a year.
Every single time that I return, I am flabbergasted at the amount of growth that the area is experiencing; more people, more housing, more businesses, more cars and MORE gridlock.
Gone are the days where the residents would get a reprieve from the tourists and snowbirds. With a steady influx of families moving into the area, along with the usual visitors, Osceola County and the City of Kissimmee are behind in their ability to keep up the pace.
I am sure that the county and city is well aware of this dilemma; if only they would take action by opting for more mass transit, highway flyovers for majorly congested roads and most importantly: STOP BUILDING more housing for more people. that clearly this area is SATURATED with.

Always darkest before the dawn
Dear Editor:
As we enter into this New Year, darkest before dawn, light at the end of a tunnel, are great sayings. The reality is, if we the people aren’t awake, the county the country will stay dark.
We all have opinions, facts are what matter, if you are true to yourself, you will look around and see the past year has affected each and every one of us, not in a positive way. We the people need to rise to many a challenge this year. Our country’s’ long-standing traditions and laws have been attacked. The rules are bent depending who you are. People have gotten away with attacking Americans for no reason other than they disagree with their policies and suffer no consequences.
The education system has failed our children. Parents are finally awake, realizing the material being used in the schools have actually brainwashed our children for too many years. Parents have the responsibility to educate on life decisions and how to avoid some of them. I for one am offended that the education system places such a strong divide, instead of uniting all as one.
Last but not least, it shouldn’t matter what political party you belong to, we need God back in the government buildings, and schools are the No. 1 place. We must teach tomorrow’s leaders that God will help us lead. For without the strength of prayer and God, we are nothing. I do not feel offended whomever you pray to, but pray. There have been many protests against people of Faith, I believe all those loud protesters fear God and by no means do they want you praying and seeing the light. With the future of our great Nation on the line, I ask you to pull together for the benefit of many tomorrows, strengthen your family and family values.
You do have control of the next year. Evaluate, educate and mobilize for the good of tomorrow, which will begin today!
