Come celebrate diversity, unity, and community with local leaders and community groups at the City of Kissimmee Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Celebration.
This year’s city event is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kissimmee Lakefront Park; the weather is expected to be glorious for a celebration.
The energetic festival honoring the legacy of the late Dr. King will feature live performances from gospel, R&B, and soul music artists, as well as food trucks, the Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA’s) Kids Zone, and craft vendors.
Among the scheduled exhibitors are the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida, Clarita’s House Outreach Ministry, Devoted Health, the Osceola County Appraiser’s Office and Osceola County Sheriff ’s Office.
Free parking will be available at the Toho Square Garage at 92 Pleasant St., the Kissimmee Intermodal Parking Garage at 205 E Dakin Ave. behind the Kissimmee Civic Center and in the street parking along Lakeview Drive.
Per the city of Kissimmee, Masks and social distancing are recommended.
As part of Martin Luther King Jr.’s celebration, the City of Kissimmee hosted a writing contest for middle and high school students. Participants from Middle School submitted a poem and High School students a 300-word, five-paragraph essay with one introductory paragraph. All poems and essays were written following the theme “Peace Begins with Me.”

NOTE: In honor of Martin Luther King Day on Monday, most government and utility offices, such as Osceola County, KUA, Toho Water and the Florida Department of Health-Osceola County, will close their offices for the holiday.
