Three Kings Day

Hundreds of children and families gathered Sunday at Old Town to celebrate Three Kings Day, an annual local event sponsored by the Kissimmee/Osceola Chamber of Commerce.

Three Kings Day is a Christmas season holiday celebrated in most Latin American and Caribbean countries, and Hispanic communities in the United States. The holiday is associated with the traditional Christian feast day of Epiphany when the three wise men Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar — portrayed this day by Kissimmee Commissioner Jim Fisher, State Rep. Kristen Arrington and Kissimmee Utility Authority President Brian Horton — brought gifts to the baby Jesus, according to the Nativity story. Each child under 11 received a toy, and over 25 bicycles were given away by random drawing.

Event Sponsors included Disney, Tompkins Family Foundation, Florida Technical College, Old Town, Toho Water Authority, Orlando Health, Advent Health, Kissimmee Utility Authority, ABC Paving & Sealcoating, the Orlando Magic, and Osceola Regional Medical Center.
