The Osceola County’s Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a four-year-old girl found unresponsive Monday at the Star Island Resort in Kissimmee.
Investigators say Jacinda Decaro and her daughter Masiela were both found unresponsive on a bed in a room of the resort after Jacinda’s mother asked resort security to respond to the room and conduct a well-being check on her daughter — Jacinda and her mother work together, and she did not show up to work.
Members of the Osceola Sheriff’s Office responded to the resort, located off of U.S. 192 just west of Vineland Road, in reference to a Suicide Attempt call. According to their report, nobody answered door, which was locked and latched from the inside. Security entered the hotel room and found the master bedroom door locked, and the balcony door leading to the bedroom was also locked.
After finally gaining entry to the master bedroom, responders found both Jacinda and the four-year-old daughter Masiela unresponsive on the bed, along with a chilling note laying on the nightstand that said, “I’m sorry.”
While Jacinda had a faint pulse and was transported to Advent Health Celebration to begin life saving measures, Masiela was declared deceased on scene.
In a release, the Sheriff’s Office noted that, in the early point of the investigation, there’s been no evidence to suggest there were any other individuals involved in the incident. No other information had been released on this case by press time.
