Male killed in Monday Poinciana head-on crash; two die in Disney World crash

A man from Valrico and a woman from Covington, La., were killed early Tuesday in a single-car accident on U.S. Highway 192  near World Drive, Florida Highway Patrol reports.

Just before 2:30 a.m., the male, 25, was driving a Nissan Rogue west on 192 and, for what FHP called "an unknown reason," failed to negotiate a curve. The car left the highway and overturned into a pond. The 28-year-old passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the driver was transported to Celebration Hospital where he later died.

Late Monday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol released the report on an afternoon head-on crash on Poinciana Boulevard that left one man dead and another in serious condition.

At 3:50 p.m., a northbound truck driver from Haines City reportedly swerved off the roadway and onto the shoulder, FHP Lt. Kim Montes said. The driver overcorrected across the northbound lanes, into the southbound lanes near Isles of Bellalago Drive, just north of Liberty High School, and into the path of an SUV driven by the man whose age or identity has not been identified. That man was pronounced deceased on the scene, while the truck driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

These incidents remain under investigation.
