Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday approved the state’s $101.5 billion operating budget. It includes $10 billion in federal funding related to COVID-19. It provides $169 million in tax breaks for consumers and businesses, and puts $9.5 billion in reserves. Here’s the breakdown from the Governor’s office.
Education - $22.8 billion for K-12 education, including $120 million for mental health initiatives and a $50 million increase to bring first-year teachers salaries to $47,500 and provide raises for other teachers and instructional personnel
Environment - $625 million for Everglades restoration and water resource improvements
Transportation/Economic Development - $10.3 billion for the Florida Department of Transportation, including $9.4 billion for an ongoing, 5-year infrastructure project, $75 million for VISIT FLORIDA marketing programs, $1.6 billion in disaster recovery funding and a one-time relief payment of $1,000 for Florida first responders.
Health and Human Services - $134 million for children and family’s served by Florida’s child welfare system and $137.6 million for community-based behavioral services for children and adults.
Military - $28 million for U.S. service members and their families stationed in Florida and military research and development.
Cybersecurity - $37.5 million for various state agencies to enhance information technology security measures
