City of St. Cloud Mayor Nathan Blackwell recently was chosen as the recipient of the Florida League of Cities’ Home Rule Hero award.
The award was presented to Mayor Blackwell during the Tri-County League of Cities meeting on May 20.
“Your outspoken advocacy for municipal Home Rule leading up to and during the 2021 Legislative Session is an inspiration and a model for municipal officials statewide,” the Florida League of Cities said. “Effort such as yours are an integral piece of the League’s grassroots advocacy and a key component to our success.”
Mayor Blackwell was elected in November 2020 to his second term as Mayor of the City of St. Cloud.
“I am humbled and honored to receive this award,” Mayor Blackwell said. “It’s important to all of us in St. Cloud, and to local municipalities all across the state, that we preserve the right to govern ourselves and make local decisions at a local level. I appreciate my colleagues at the Florida League of Cities for bestowing on me this honor.”
