Old Town in Kissimmee hosts Best Buddies Friendship Walk

Old Town is hosting the Best Buddies Friendship Walk on Saturday, May 1, beginning at 9 a.m.

Best Buddies International is an organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Friendship Walk on May 1 is one their biggest fundraising events.  The event begins at 9 a.m. and will include live entertainment, prizes and more.  Participants and fundraisers are welcome to join in on the fun or remain in their car using Old Town’s radio station for event highlights.  The finale includes a “Best Buddies Car Cruise” down Old Town’s Main Street – a unique opportunity as only muscle and classic car owners are allowed to drive on the brick streets.

“Old Town is one of our newest employer partners in the Best Buddies Jobs Program, and we look forward to highlighting our partnership with the organization during our Best Buddies Friendship Walk” said Kim Wehagen, Best Buddies area director. “It will be a fun family event in support of our mission of inclusion for more than 2,500 children and families we serve in Central Florida.”

“Old Town is excited to support the Best Buddies program,” said Thearon Scurlock, Old Town vice president and general manager.  “We have proudly partnered with the organization and look forward to hosting their fundraiser as they work to provide essential services to the Central Florida community.”

Best Buddies are still welcoming walk teams and fundraisers.  If interested, please visit www.bestbuddiesfriendshipwalk.org/orlando for more information.
