Since the start of the health crisis of COVID-19, the city of Kissimmee has assisted close to 400 families through its Residential Assistance Program, committing over $1.1 million to date, according to a press release.
“Assisting families in need has been one of our top priorities since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March, we have allocated funds from different agencies to assist individuals within our community better. By working together, we have impacted hundreds of lives, and we will continue to do so as we continue to the road to recovery,” said Mayor Olga González.
The city has offered residential/mortgage, eviction prevention, first-month rent, utilities, and security deposit assistance programs to residents in need by committing monies from the State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program (SHIP), CDBG-CV, and the Coronavirus Relief Funds from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. Meanwhile, the City is expected to receive additional (CRF) funding to assist households on a waiting list.
