A burn ban for all areas of Osceola County in effect since March 27 was lifted today, Osceola County Fire Chief Larry Collier announced.
Favorable measurement of the Keetch-Bryan Drought Index (KBDI) over the past seven consecutive days allowed for cancelation of the ban on all types of outside burning.
“While we are thankful to have conditions return to a state where the burn ban can be removed, yesterday’s 20-acre fire along East Lake Toho shows that caution is still a must for outdoor burning.” said Collier.
The fire.osceola.org website will continue to be updated with safety information, including local fire conditions and KBDI measurements.
