Crashes that occurred just over two hours apart late Friday and into Saturday morning on U.S. Highway 192 claimed the lives of a Kissimmee motorcyclist and a St. Cloud pedestrian, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The first incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday when troopers say a 45-year-old Kissimmee man riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle east on 192 failed to observe a Mazda CX-50 slowing in front of him approaching Vacanza Boulevard, just west of Poinciana Boulevard. The motorcycle collided with the right rear of the Mazda. The motorcyclist was transported to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, where he died from his injuries. None of the four people in the Mazda from Puerto Rico were injured, according to the crash report.
The other incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. at 192 and Pineview Crest Road, west of Harmony. According to an FHP report, three people from Melbourne and Bensalem, Pa. traveling east in a Nissan Rouge struck a 32-year-old St. Cloud man who was in the roadway in the eastbound lanes not in a crosswalk. The vehicle remained on scene and none of the three inside were hurt. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
Both crashes remain under investigation. FHP says.
