I4-4, 429, Poinciana Parkway interchange in the works
A design and construction team has been selected oversee the upgrade of Interstate 4 through a portion of Osceola County that is, at best unholy mess and at its worst one of the worst traffic choke points in the state.
Lane Construction will design and construct a $582 million portion of a new interchange that will connect a to-be segment of State Road 538 (Poinciana Parkway) to I-4 and State Road 429. It is part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Moving I-4 Forward program, and has been funded 10 to 20 years ahead of schedule to help the region prepare for long-term population and economic growth.
The interchange will integrate two new I-4 Express Lanes, part of “Beyond the Ultimate” in each direction along Interstate 4 from west of U.S. 27 in Polk County to east of World Center Drive (State Road 536) in Orange County.
The project also reconstructs and widens a 3.1-mile stretch of I-4 from World Drive to ChampionsGate, reconfigures the State Road 429 interchange and provides new ramps to and from Poinciana Parkway. The final product will be four general-use lanes and two express lanes in each direction, a change expected to ease the often-congested area.
Zane Evans named HCA Florida Poinciana CFO
HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital has named Zane Evans chief financial officer, effective March 23. Evans joins HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital from HCA Florida West Hospital in Pensacola where he had served as assistant chief financial officer since September 2024. He led that hospital’s financial operations, including internal and external reporting, capital planning, and resource utilization, with leadership support across operational areas like patient access, information technology, supply chain, health information management, case management, and accounting.
