Wearing the green—and raising it for senior hunger, childhood cancer

Saturday was a day to get your green on. In the morning, hundreds turned out to support the Osceola Council on Aging’s Meals on Wheels program at the annual March for Meals 5K along the Kissimmee Lakefront.

Running groups and county offices like the Osceola Tax Collectors Office showed their spirit for both Meals on Wheels and St. Patrick’s Day by getting decked out and running 3.1 miles for the adults and a few hundred yards for the kids, all to help fight senior hunger.

Community Champions took to the streets Wednesday to deliver meals to those in need.

Then in the evening, St. Cloud took the chance to Paint the Cloud Green, with food, music and entertainment and a sunset 5K glow run of its own.

Murphy’s Law performed live Irish music, and The Supervillains also rocked the stage. Barbers also rocked the clippers as part of the St. Baldrick’s Shavefest fundraiser, with volunteers getting shorn in the name of supporting those fighting childhood cancer.
