Beginning this week's Thursday, Jan. 8 meeting, St. City Council meetings will return to the newly-renovated Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall.
City leaders say the modernized Chamber features new audience chairs and carpets and upgrades to audio technology that will provide a better experience for those attending meetings and those watching the meeting live streams. The upgrade includes a security screening prior to entering Council Chambers.
Meetings during the winter were held at the St. Cloud Community Center during the Chamber renovation project.
While you're at City Hall, check out its new digital board, where public notices and meeting agendas are now available in front of City Hall.
Its touch screen technology allows users to tap an icon on the screen to pull up current meeting notices and agendas. The screen replaces a bulletin board and paper notices. On the other side of the two-sided digital board, you'll find information on upcoming city events for the month.
(Meeting agendas also are available on the city website, stcloudfl.gov.)
The City is also accepting applications from residents interested in volunteering to serve on an advisory board or committee. There are currently vacancies on the Community Redevelopment Agency board, Planning Commission, Recreation Advisory Committee and Zoning Board of Adjustment. It's a great way to rachet up your involvement in the community.
Applications are due by Friday, Jan. 16. For more information about the boards and committees and to submit an online application, go to www.stcloudfl.gov/committees. For other information, call the City Clerk’s office at 407-957-7388.
