POINCIANA NEWS — It’s APV Parade time!

The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) 32nd Annual Christmas Parade and Celebration is set for Saturday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. The parade will begin on the corner of Cypress Branch Road and Cypress Parkway heading east, then turning right on Doverplum heading south, turning right on Country Club Road heading west with the conclusion at the Amphitheater of Vance Harmon Park. Parking is limited. Take the APV Shuttle! First shuttle leaves at 9 a.m. from the Activity Campus (445 Marigold Ave.) The shuttle runs every 20 minutes. The last shuttle leaves at 3 p.m. from the event to return to the parking area.

This family friendly event features a grand parade with dozens of floats and participants. Immediately following the parade is the holiday celebration at the amphitheater at Vance Harmon Park. This celebration features a kid’s zone, a food truck lane, live entertainment featuring music (LaCalle Band) and performers on and off stage, vendors and crafters, a Battle of the Bands between New Dimensions High and Liberty High and more.

 

All Aboard! The Poinciana Express will stop on Sunday, Dec. 14 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Living Water Fellowship (4101 Pleasant Hill Road). Meet Santa, enjoy a train ride, petting zoo, face painting, ornament decorating, snow fall, live music, hot cocoa, food trucks and a living nativity. Come out and celebrate the season.

 

Celebrate the season! Jolabokaflod Celebration is the Icelandic tradition of “Christmas Book Flood”, where books are the main gift exchanged on Christmas eve and families spend the night reading them together. Discover the cultural origins of this tradition, while enjoying a free book to read with family and friends, along with a sweet treat. Jolabokaflod Celebration takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Poinciana Library.

 

County Commissioner Brandon Arrington’s party with Santa takes place on Friday, Dec. 19 from 6-7 p.m. at the Valencia College Poinciana campus. The festivities include photos with Santa, face painting, balloon artist, kid’s games, music and a Christmas cookie decoration station. Registration is required and this event is exclusively for Osceola County residents (must show valid ID at checkin). Children must present for this event to receive a gift. Christmas Break Kids’ Bingo is back on Saturday, Dec. 20. Doors open at 11:30 and first ball drops at 12 noon at the Poinciana Community Center, 445 Marigold Ave. This Bingo is for kids ages up to 14 (must be accompanied by an adult). There will be 10 fun free games with great prizes. Basic bingo supplies will be available for purchase. No outside food or drink is permitted. Concession stands will be open. Seating is limited, first come, first seated.
