The St. Cloud Police Department has arrested a former city Fire Rescue Department employee, stating she accessed the city’s video camera network following her employment with the city.
Theresa Sysol, 41, was arrested Thursday and charged with seven counts of accessing a computer or electronic device without authorization and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device. She has since left jail on a $20,000 bond ($2,500 on each of the eight accounts), the city said.
City officials said Sysol, who worked as a firefighter/paramedic with the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department before retiring in March 2024 after more than a decade with the department, was trained and authorized to use the FUSUS platform strictly for official duties and only through city-issued devices. FUSUS is a network of cameras and devices that integrates video and other intelligence from public and private sources into a real-time, unified system for law enforcement. It is designed specifically to be used by law enforcement and first responders to enhance situational awareness and improve incident response times.
During a recent audit of FUSUS users, the city said police detectives found several instances in which Sysol’s account credentials were used to view live video cameras between April 2024 and June 2025. Detectives determined the account was accessed through Sysol’s and her family’s computers and cellphones. According to her arrest affidavit, while being interrogated Sysol told detectives her son “Has a heart condition, and that she was only trying to ensure his safety and didn’t know the repercussions.”
“Unauthorized access to secure systems will be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible will be held accountable,” said St. Cloud Chief of Police, Douglas Goerke. “We are working to ensure points of access to these systems are more stringently controlled, and that incidents like this do not happen in the future.”
Poinciana man faces additional child sex charges
A 23-year-old Poinciana man accused of assaulting a 14-year-old girl is now facing additional charges after investigators discovered child pornography on his phone.
Osceola County sheriff’s deputies arrested Anthony Falu Jr. in August on charges of lewd and lascivious battery. According to reports, the girl’s mother contacted deputies after finding sexually explicit messages between Falu and her daughter. The victim later told investigators Falu assaulted her in his vehicle and previously offered her marijuana.
A forensic search of Falu’s phone at his Canopy Court residence uncovered multiple images of children between the ages of 4 and 9 being sexually abused. On Tuesday, deputies charged him with five counts of possessing or viewing child pornography. He is being held without bond at the Osceola County Jail.
Falu was also charged with attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault in a February 2022 road-rage inspired shooting incident, but the state dropped those charges.
St. Cloud man arrested on child pornography charges
Osceola County sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday arrested a 35-year-old St. Cloud man after investigators found lewd images of children on his computer.
According to an arrest affidavit, deputies acting on a tip linked Nathaniel Finch to a Reddit account used to solicit child exploitation images and videos. When questioned, Finch admitted being attracted to children but claimed he only discussed his “fantasies” online and had never acted on them.
He is charged with 10 counts of possessing or viewing images depicting the sexual performance of a child.
Winter Haven man accused of long-term abuse of teen
A 44-year-old Winter Haven man was arrested Friday on charges of sexually abusing his girlfriend’s son for years.
Deputies charged Byron Turton III with eight counts of sexual battery by a custodian on a child aged 12–17. According to sheriff’s reports, the abuse began when the boy was 14 while Turton was living in Kissimmee and continued until he reached adulthood.
When questioned, Turton claimed the victim “came on” to him. He made a first appearance in front of a judge Wednesday and is being held without bond at the Osceola County Jail.
